Patricia Costas | Sociologist, Community Educator & Respectful Parenting Facilitator
I am a sociologist with a Master’s degree in Gender and Public Policy, alongside specialized postgraduate studies in maternal health. For years, my work focused on social conflict analysis and resolution; however, becoming a mother and my own experience as an immigrant redefined my personal and professional path.
My primary calling is supporting the Latinx immigrant community. I bring years of experience as a facilitator within organizations supporting Spanish-speaking families, leading spaces centered on respectful parenting, child development, and related topics. This work is also enriched by my fieldwork and research for a documentary in Bolivia, where I explored diverse parenting approaches rooted in cultural richness and diversity.
In my courses and workshops, I combine this intercultural perspective with practical tools for communication, self-regulation, and conflict resolution. I offer families actionable resources to strengthen the bond with their children, navigate daily challenges without violence, and adapt to a new environment without losing their cultural roots or confidence in their parenting. My purpose is to create safe, guilt-free spaces where our community can parent with firmness, empathy, and joy.
